WordPress Tutorial: Help the Commenter

here is a little WordPress Tutorial  for you:

Last Thursday I moaned a bit about the pain of commenters.

The desire to interact, to communicate with the blogger, which is sometimes not really possible.

But it is easy for us bloggers to help our reader, our commenter to interact.

We all love the little checkbox “Notify me of follow-up comments via email

It makes it so easy for our readers to follow the comments of our blog.

So why not setting it up?

WordPress Tutorial: How do I set it up?

That’s quite easy. I can show you the way for a WordPress-blog, but I am pretty sure any other blog-software has a similar checkbox. And probably the way is similar too.

Just log yourself into your blog.

You will land at dashboard.

Now scroll down the left sidebar until the topic “Setting”.

Click it.

It opens and you will chose: “Discussion”.

Scroll down, after you have clicked discussion.

You will find a section that allows to “enable sending comment replies via email”.

Check it and the system will do the job.

Extra tip:

For those who don’t trust the antispam-software or plugin we have all installed.

Just check in the very “Settings – Discussion” area, that an administrator = YOU has to approve any comments!

So you will gain full control over all comments and can lead a successful discussion.

  1. Helen,
I was so excited when I saw what your post was about – just what I wanted to know. I went to do it immediately, following the steps, only to find out the option doesn’t exist in my “discussions.”
Would this be a reflection of the comments plugin I’m using or the theme?
    Cheers,
    Caylie
