I really would love to say “Shut down due to overheating” … temps in Germany are far to hot these days. We are expecting 35°C/95F. Not my kind of weather. Really not.
And I feel a certain panic that the lovely little mac on my desk might overheat!
Really! It’s direct ancestor – a big Tower Power PC Mac had had a huge hard drive crash because of heat. The hard drive even had had a tiny little burn hole … pretty scary.
My Mac dealer told me that I don’t have to be afraid that the little new one would overheat. But has he kept the ambient temperature in mind?
I am careful. Monitor has got a cool wallpaper. And the mac has got a brand new external cooling fan.
Doesn’t it look coolish and stylish … ok the blue is not the stuff which brings cooling. But the three mini-fans do their job pretty well.
The team has got some brand new big fans.
Our teenage-staff-member is really exited about the machines.
Oh yeah and don’t forget to drink a lot. Really a lot, about 3 l per day.
Best is water. I like it with home made Mint-Syrup. So delicious.
And it is so easy to make it:
One bunch of fresh mint … you can find it in the garden, on the farmers market or in Berlin at your local turkish supermarket.
I’ll pluck the petals, place them on the bottom of a big pot and cover them with 1 kg/2.2 lbs sugar (don’t be afraid of the sugar, you need to conserve the sirup and you only need a tiny little bit of the sirup when mixing it)
Leave it alone for a while … I am using this time to set up a biz card for one of our lovely clients.
Pour 1 liter/2 ¼ pints water over the mixture after 2 or 3 hours, steer well well and bring to boil. Let it cook for about 5 minutes.
Now leave it alone for the night.
Next morning, while making coffee for the team, bring it again to boil, let it simmer for a couple of minutes. Then pour it through a sieve.
Be careful it is pretty HOT!
Fill syrup into bottles. If you don’t have any, you can also use clean jam jars.
Let it cool down and store in the fridge.
And now for the yummie part:
Fill a little syrup – about 1 finger’s breath – into a glass, and fill in mineral water.
You can also enjoy it with cherry syrup or elder blossom syrup.
We use to buy the later ones.
I will spare you our cold foot bath.
But you can be sure, that Helz-Design stays cool, even when we suffer 35°C.
