Finally I have layout a book for my customer or created a flyer. As we usually handle it today, I won’t print the work and send it via mail to my customer. I rather make a PDF-File and send it via e-mail. Everybody can read the PDF-file via Acrobat Reader for free. Read the rest of this entry
Sunday morning, the sun is shining, the birds are singing, my neighbor sets the barbeque on fire and me my brain. My thoughts are wandering. My son uses to say: “Oh I am thinking about this and that!” Pretty unspecific and right in a certain way. Traditonally May 1st in my family started with the words “Good morning, it arrived!” My dad used to greet us this way. Even after we knew what he was up to, we had to ask: “Who?”
With a bright green he used to say: “May – it has arrived!”

Beside the fact that Helz-Design is a young and small company, we also got staff. We used to portrait some of them before with pictures and little movies.
Today I would like to introduce a somewhat shy staff member. You know that CEO is female at Helz-Design, the rest of the company stuff is male. We hadn’t planed it like that, it just happened. And yes we would like to change it … in the long run.

Yesterday the German parliament discussed about quotas for women in work … again.
And again they didn’t make a law, which guarantees women their equal part in work.
Sure there are professions where women are in the majority.
Actually we are not discussing about these professions and also not about the professions where guys are in the majority. We are discussing about jobs and positions where women work successfully for years but yet most bosses are still male. Read the rest of this entry

Once a year there is a bookfair in the lovely town of Leipzig. We at Helz-Design have a great experience in typesetting books. We layout books in the traditional way for printing but we also produce e-books. Therefore it was close enough to make a trip to the bookfair in Leipzig.
Saturday March 16th we took the train to Leipzig. We also planned to visit a friend in Leipzig, who spontaneously offered couch and bed. Hurray a weekend-trip. Read the rest of this entry
Wallpapers for March.

We created some pretty wallpaper for you.
Today we have 2 different motives.
One is dedicated to Valentine’s day on February 14th … so it is a dream in pink … the other one is dedicated to carnival. In Berlin people don’t celebrate carnival, but they are crazy for something they call “pancakes”, the rest of Germany calls it “Berliner”, you might identify it as a special filled donut.
Happy Valentine’s Day and Happy Carnival.
BTW. we created the wallpapers in plain version and with the calendar of February 2013.
We started to renovate the site a bit. Nothing wrong with the color, but maybe the navigation was not that suitable for you. So we did a little face-lifitng with the site.
We also thought about a slogan for Helz-Design. You know that the whole industry is crazy about USP – Unique Selling Point. We don’t want to get that crazy about it, but yet thinking about it can’t do any harm, right?
And we have been successful, and therefore we are a little bit proud! Was not easy.
Most of the thinking has been done in German and it is somewhat difficult to get the right tone in English. You just can’t translate it literally. So we wanted to transport the feeling instead.

Ok we think we are the uncommon agency.
We are different, we are special, we are extraordinary, we are uncommon.
So we created some new headers trying to explain our uniqueness.
