Traditonally May 1st in my family started with the words “Good morning, it arrived!” My dad used to greet us this way. Even after we knew what he was up to, we had to ask: “Who?”
With a bright green he used to say: “May – it has arrived!”

I have chatted with customers and fellow designers recently and I found out that both think finding a suitable font is kind of magic or mystery.
I can assure you: it isn’t.
The process doing a logo is sometimes quite long, depending on my ideas or on mismatch of my ideas with the customer’s ideas or technical issues or … whateva.
It is a process.
Today I will show you how I usually find a font for a logo.
Usually the final font is the result of a matter of taste … the taste of YOU – my customer. Read the rest of this entry
Randomly I am going to introduce Logos, which I made.
We are talking about Logos of Companies.
Usually such a logo is made up of letters, sometimes a whole word or even a little picture.
A good logo has to be eye-catching and should be easily recognized again.
It represents the whole company.
These are the reasons to go to a designer and ask him / her to create a logo.
Certainly a logo has to serve more requirements. You are going to use it with different promo material.

Helz-Design is going to print bookmarks.
For local advertising.
Front a kind of photo, which I layouted, photographed or created.
Backside: contact info.Created more than I need.
Wanted to load them all up on Facebook, but they have issues today.
Leave me a comment which one or two … you like best or vote below – the 4 with the most “likes” will be the ones, that will be printed.

My favorite customer wanted a logo.
He is principal of a Berlin school “Jean-Krämer-Schule Wittenau”.
That school is based in an old fashioned round-shaped brick building.
A few months ago we had even done a new flyer for the school using the very picture and the color of the bricks. Created a nice effect – the brick red.
After a short briefing on the logo the principal and me knew that we wanted to adapt the shape of the building which was like an arc with two side wings and the red of the building.
But not a dark brick red as we used it before. This time it should be a clear and intensive red. Read the rest of this entry
