Why Shall I Use Different Fonts and Typefaces?

I recently wondered why people seem to be not so interested in my hobby fonts than in the more lighthearted subjects like “wordpress tips” or “getting to know about Helen what you didn’t dare to ask”.

Nicole Bandes came across with a suggestion that people might not know why using different fonts.

I started that series last year after talking to some friends who used to tell me that they are usually using “Standard fonts”. Standard fonts are fonts like Arial or Times for them.

My purpose for that series “Font of the Week” is to make you guys aware that there are so much more fonts than just Arial or Times or even Calibri. Typeface designers like Luke de Groot or Jan Tschichold haven’t designed the fonts just to please Melissa Barham and Helen Bogun. They are there to be used, by all of us. Read the rest of this entry

I am what I am …

I am what I am …

… and I certainly need no excuses.

How did I become, what I am now: a blogging Media- and Graphic Designer?

I was not meant to chose the path I am walking now. But I am happy, that I am walking this path.
I don’t think that my work is really work to me in the sense of “a burden”, “just something to do for living”. I really love what I am doing.
Depending on the tasks I can really lose my self in my work – means you can stand next to me, talking; I wouldn’t even realize you are there.

When I finished high school – oh I can say it now: last century!
When I finished high school last century …… I wanted to become a journalist.
Really I wanted to spend my life writing.

I did some jobs for the local news paper, certainly the kind none of the other journalists wanted to do. It was fun, it was pleasure. Read the rest of this entry
